Though our Philanthropy to the community are typically not intended to be micro-philanthropy based, we were able redistribute the remainder of the grant from the Third Wave Fund to help a community member avoid homelessness through our Philanthropy: Emergency Housing Assistance Grant.
Philanthropy- As we work to support the liberation of our communities and comrades in struggle, the need for a redistribution of resources from those with to those without continue to be one of our methods to address the injustices and systems that produce/reproduce poverty.
The goal in participating in Philanthropy is to address the current, daily challenges our communities are experiencing, while also attacking the larger systems that cause and perpetuate such challenges.
Currently, we're building our collective's capacity and infrastructure in order to fund and fundraise for local community causes and groups who may not have the capacity and networks to access the resources needed to do their work effectively yet.
We also plan to start our Care Package Project by providing donations to incarcerated juveniles girls, homeless LGBTQ youth and families in poverty.
If you or your organization is interested in working with us or supporting us in making this project a reality sooner rather than later, please email us at WomanistWorkingCollective@gmail.com
OR donate to our GoFundMe.com/Womanist & note which project your funds are designated for when you send it.
A social action & support group for Black womyn, transwomen, femmes, Gender Non-conforming & Non-binary folks
Many thanks to the Third Wave Fund for gifting us the Mobilize Power Fund Grant which we used largely for our Black Womanist Herstory Day event.
Donations like this allow us to do our work much more effectively!
